Freaky February 2025
This month I'm doin' one of those daily drawing challenges with my friend, Jesse. We came up with our own list of prompts and the main goal is to get ourselves back into drawing regularly. There are no rules about the medium but for my own sake I have to give myself some restrictions or I'll get too ambitious, then overwhealm myself, and end up quitting really damn fast. I know myself. I'm dumb like that.
So here's what I'm doin:
- small drawings - I don't have the mental bandwidth or the home situation to sit down a few hours and make a full finished illustration. I need to get myself motivated to work on all my other projects I already started or planned. So everything will stay in my sketchbook, preferably as many as I can fit on a single spread.
- ballpoint pen - it has always been my favourite thing to draw with and I wan' to find joy in it again. Also I have a style sorta developing and I'd like to explore and practice it. I'll add colors with colored pencils, markers, highlighters and gel pens when I feel like it. But mainly I will be sticking to ballpoint pens.
- imperfection - these will be ultimately sketches. I will have to remind myself along the way that I'm not doing finished illustrations. I'm doing sketches. It's not a competition, it's not a test and it's not a commission. It's supposed to be fun.
1. JOURNEY
Drawing tiny winding stairs spiraling around a hourglass is easy. Very easy. Easiest thing ever. I didn't hate it at all. Loved doing it. My favourite thing in the World. -.-

3. COSMIC
I drew this right when I finished the last prompt. The idea was rattling in my head and I didn't want to lose it. So I guess the prompts are working.
I love how this one came out so much. I think I'm gonna turn it into something bigger.

It sounds like Betty Boop in my head.
